Digital Students @ Analog Schools

Here is a video from Marco Torres a keynote from Alan November's conference and teacher from Fernando Valley High School in LA
link

The students who made this movie did this on their own after graduating from San . They moved onto higher and and enrolled in several prestigious colleges. The students did all the work on the movie while attending college and working collaboratively and online. How impressive is that!

Hi Mary,
I was eager to watch/hear this segment but it wasn't streaming smoothly. Could only get staccato dialogue. Will check back later.

Looks intriguing.

I can't open the movie in teacher tube but I did forward the site along and our school has been looking at it.

Also downloaded jumping minds for the tablet we have.

See you Friday

Also have been looking into the clickers from smart products and hope we can have a discussion more on possible ways to use them.

I tried to view this segment again as we had seen it in class and I really loved it. All the students were so enthusiastic about their desire to learn and their ability to do so with technology. They decried the age old techniques and complained of the reluctance of educators to wholly embrace the technology that they need to compete in a global market. I would have to say that this group of well spoken youths DO know what they need for their future and they aren't afraid to say that they might know of a better way to motivate and educate themselves
